Low-fat protein sources and tasty low-fat recipes are the foundation for this 1400-calorie diabetic meal plan. This meal plan provides 1399 calories, with 55% from carbs and 19% from fat.

Breakfast:

  • coffee with 2 tablespoons fat-free half & half
  • 6 ounces fat-free yogurt mixed with:
  • 1/2 cup bran flakes
  • 8 walnut halves
  • 1 diced peach

Lunch:

  • Ham & Turkey Wrap

  • 1 cup baby carrots
  • 1 diced apple mixed with 1/4 cup cottage cheese. If you like, sprinkle with cinnamon and/or a sugar substitute of your choice.
  • Sugar Substitutes
  • 8-12 ounces of water or a sugar-free beverage

Dinner:

  • Apricot Chicken

  • 1/2 cup cooked green beans
  • 1/3 cup cooked brown rice
  • 8-12 ounces of water or a sugar-free beverage

Evening Snack:

  • 3 2.5-inch graham cracker squares
  • 2 tablespoons of low-fat peanut butter
  • 8 ounces (1 cup) of skim milk
