Barbie Cervoni, MS, RD, CD/N, CDE is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. She strongly believes that both nutrition and diabetes education is the impetus for achieving one of her primary objectives – that is, guiding her patients to achieving the healthiest version of themselves. Each day she is inspired by her patients and finds so much joy in helping people create individualized health goals. Importantly, she appreciates the challenges presented by this disease not only because she counsels people with diabetes, but also because her father has been self managing his diabetes for over 25 years. Barbie currently works as an Advanced Nutrition Coordinator for the Mount Sinai Diabetes and Cardiovascular Alliance. She counsels patients in primary care offices and cardiology practices who have diabetes, pre-diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity with an emphasis on caring for the whole body – the eyes, heart, kidneys, feet and mental health. She works in conjunction with primary and specialty care physicians to ensure a collaborative approach to diabetes care and weight loss.
Barbie began her career as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team in pediatric endocrinology at The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York. Over the years, Barbie has contributed articles to ivillage.com, and mensfitness.com, and served as past editor and board member of the Long Island Dietetic Association.
She graduated from New York University with a Master’s of Science and a specialization in Nutrition and Food Studies in 2008. Barbie completed a Dietetic Internship and training from Mount Sinai Medical Center and is certified in Adult Weight Management. She received her BA from Loyola University in Maryland.

My philosophy on living with and treating Type 2 diabetes is that each individual health plan is unique - what works for someone else may not work for you. Don't compare yourself to other people. Your success is a measurement of your own body, attitude, will and drive. Know your limits, but don't settle.
