Maybe A Blessing in Disguise
- I was diagnosed with diabetes 4 1/2 years ago. Since then, I've really watched what I eat, namely portions since I never overloaded on sweets, and I stay busy, stay moving. I don't do any formal exercises. I lost weight and have maintained it. I could lose about 20 lbs. more, but the doctor is happy and my blood sugar level is good. When I don't eat every few hours, my blood sugar level drops.

- My internist who specializes in diabetes has me take a fiber supplement before each meal wait 10 minutes for max. absorption then eat my meals that have at least 10 to 15 fiber grams in them. Then 30 minutes after I eat I take a 10 min. walk. Voila! I've lost 40 lbs. and my fasting is below 100 and A1c is 5.2.

40 lb. loser
- One year ago I weighed 220 lbs. My blood glucose was 250+. Now I weigh 170 lbs. & my glucose is a steady 95-110. (What works for me may not work for you!) I have changed my eating routine. I eat very healthy now. In the morning I'll eat a good breakfast, at noon I'll eat a moderate lunch. At 5:00 pm I'll eat a light dinner. After that I'll eat nothing until breakfast. (Sometimes, I'll eat a fruit for a snack about 7:00 pm, but not to often). I also eat a low carb diet. I'll eat most of my carbs at breakfast & lunch. At dinner I'll eat mainly vegetables. I eat very little meat any more. (I used to love my meat). Portion control is also very important.
