Keeping your daily intake of carbohydrates consistent helps to keep your blood sugar from going too high or too low during the day. Consistently eating the same amount everyday also helps you to figure out how your body reacts to carbs.

If you know how your blood sugar fluctuates, then your oral medication dose can be more accurate at keeping your blood glucose levels within a good range. If you take insulin, counting the amount of carbohydrates in each meal and snack helps you to adjust your insulin dose.
