About.com Devotes Two Websites to Diabetes
The Diabetes website at About.com has covered everything about diabetes, both type 1 and type 2, for many years. But now, with diabetes information exploding at such a rapid pace, About.com has created two separate websites to better cover everything there is to know about type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The original diabetes website will now cover type 2 diabetes exclusively, and a new website has been created to thoroughly cover type 1 diabetes.
Gary Gilles is the new guide to type 1 diabetes. Visit his website here... Type 1 Diabetes at About.com
What does this mean for the About.com Diabetes newsletter and forum? My newsletter will bring you all the info you'll need about type 2 diabetes, and Gary will be manning the type 1 diabetes newsletter. Both of our forums will be a common ground for people with diabetes and the people who love and support them. My forum has always been a home to all with diabetes, both type 1 and type 2, and it will remain an open forum for everyone.

Hi Debra,
I never thought I’d say I’m happy to have diabetes, but I’m glad that mine are of the T2 variety. I always look forward to your newsletters, and have researched your site regularly. Keep up the great work!
I find your website very informative and helpful. I am Type 2 but must use insulin to control my glucose levels(like many other Type 2’s) So I don’t think that separating the website is very practical since many of the concerns of Type 1 and Type 2 are so similar. Please reconsider!
Hi Daisey and Franny,
Thanks for the good feedback. I’m glad that you’re finding this website helpful.
Daisey, Although the main focus of the website has changed to type 2, I’ll continue to provide articles and information for everything that you might need, such as information about insulin, etc. A lot of issues are the same for people with type 1 and type 2, so I’ll definitely keep that in mind. If there’s ever anything that you’d like to see on the website, feel free to drop me an email.

Hi Debra
A Natrupath has indicated that vitamins are the main weapon of choice against T2 can you please advise as he indicated that what was said by the doctor re the T2 may not be correct and that vitamins are more appropriate treatment.
