Prediabetes Should be Managed Early and Aggressively
There are currently no medications or medical therapies for treatment of prediabetes.
The panel recommends aggressive lifestyle management as a first line of defense for prediabetes.
Secondly it has been suggested that prescribing medications for cardiovascular complications, such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels, also be part of the management plan for prediabetes.
The panel urges health care professionals to recognize and treat type 2 diabetes earlier and more aggressively.

I was told by my Doctor at the Joslin Clinic, that there is no such thin as prediabetes. She says you are diabetic or you are not. It’s like being pre-pregnant or pre-epileptic.
I have been treated for Insulin resistance type 2 Diabetes. However, I have a friend that keeps insisting she is not diabetic. She is taking Glucophage and Amaryl and monitors her blood sugars. Her doctor tells her she is pre-diabetic. What is the proper diagnosis?
