"Inspired by Diabetes" Contest Winners Go On to Global Competition
The first annual Inspired by Diabetes Creative Expression Competition has come to a close in the United States, choosing four U.S. Grand Prize winners, one in each of four categories. The contest encouraged people touched by diabetes to share their stories creatively through visual and written expression, such as essays, poems, art and photography.
Eli Lilly and Company and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) announced the four winners early this month. Inspired by Diabetes is a global partnership between Lilly and the International Diabetes Federation’s Unite for Diabetes campaign.
The four categories are: Adult with Diabetes, Child with Diabetes, Family Member or Friend of someone with Diabetes, and Health Care Professional.
And the winners are...- Adult with Diabetes – Betsy Ray, Colorado
- Child with Diabetes – Erin Tetreault, Idaho
- Family Member or Friend – Teresa Ollila, Colorado
- Health Care Professional – Theresa Garnero, California
U.S. Grand Prize winners will have their submissions entered into the global competition which will choose winners this fall. Learn more about...

I am writing to say that this contest is the best idea Eli Lilly ever came up with! Please enter and share your stories so that the current paradigm of diabetes can be shifted to a better place. It is the stories of our lives that bring the human element to the realities of diabetes. Inspired by Diabetes is a great contest. I had a great time and look forward to sharing further adventures with you!

how about showing us the art and essays and letting us hear the music. I have been waiting for htem to post the winners so I can be INSPIRED…..I entered, and got a second place award, but what have they done with the art??
