Insulin Pump Pros and Cons... It's the Inside Story

The Diabetes Forum is a great place to go for advice from others who have diabetes. This week, new member, Chika1, wonders how effective insulin pumps are at controlling blood glucose levels. She also wants to know how practical they are to wear, especially when swimming, sleeping, or when wearing a dress.

A thorough and informative reply from Davidrr07 sums up what it's like to wear a pump... Hi Chica, I've had Type One diabetes for 37 years, 6 of them as a pumper. I'd never return to MDI by choice. Pre-pump, my A1C was below 7 only once and my number swung from lows to highs and back down quite often. My A1c is now in the 5.7-6.3 range while having much more steady levels... read more.
