Inspired by Diabetes? Express Yourself

Wednesday February 6, 2008

The International Diabetes Federation and Eli Lilly and Co. are sponsoring "Inspired by Diabetes" and the Creative Expression Competition, worldwide, to give people with diabetes a chance to share their experiences of living with the disease.

The contest is open to all children, adolescents and adults who are affected by diabetes in their daily lives. Although the contest is global, the United States will also hold a separate contest with a chance to win both national and global competitions.

What is the mission of the Inspired by Diabetes Campaign?

"The spirit of the Inspired by Diabetes initiative is to bring families and people with diabetes together to raise awareness of the global burden of diabetes — and draw particular attention to people who do not have the resources they need to fight diabetes."

Submissions may be art, essay, poetry, photography and music. The deadline is March 31st, 2008.

What will you win?

A donation in your name will be made to the Life for a Child program if you are a global winner or to United States youth diabetes initiatives if you win in the U.S. Plus, your winning entry will be displayed on the website and other possible public venues. All-expense paid trips will also be awarded to grand prize winners to attend the media briefing announcing the results.
