Go Red For Women Day, Feb 1st

Thursday January 31, 2008

Got your red outfit picked out? February 1st is National Wear Red Day to raise awareness about heart disease. It's commonly known as the number one killer in men, but it is also the number one killer in women as well.

This quote from the American Heart Association says it best, "Everyone can support the fight against heart disease in women by wearing red. It's a simple, powerful way to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke".

Diabetes can also put people at an increased risk for heart disease. Diabetes speeds up hardening of the arteries (also known as atherosclerosis). Read how you can prevent this complication of diabetes...

Women (and men) who would like to check on their heart health, may go to the AHA website and take the Go Red Heart Checkup.

And don't forget to wear your red!
