The Diabetes Forum Talks about the Emotions of Diabetes

In most of the literature on diabetes management, the focus is on blood glucose levels, nutrition, treatments, and complications. And all of that is of the utmost importance for survival with diabetes.
But there is more to the story. A person is more than just a diabetes statistic. There is more to someone's heart than just cardiovascular complications.
The Diabetes Forum is a meeting place for people of all ages who have diabetes or are close to someone who does. One discussion in the forum that has been ongoing for two years, addresses the emotions that very often accompany diabetes. Originally, this discussion was started by someone who was worried about her diabetic husband.
The thread has continued until today with advice, compassion, and acknowledgment that the emotional side of diabetes can be just as tricky to navigate sometimes, as the physical issues.

AusT1 offers this answer... Blood sugar has such a significant effect on mood (in me anyway). And it's only recently I've realized how much. So on top of dealing with the stress of living with the disease, organizing life around it, there are the biological things too. And they can be subtle.
