What Kind of Diet Do You Follow?

From Debra Manzella, R.N., About.com GuideSeptember 16, 2007

Follow me on:

Obesity is one of the major risk factors for type 2 diabetes. Not all people who are diagnosed with type 2 are overweight, but a majority of cases of type 2 diabetes do involve trying to lose excess weight, especially around the mid-section.

Doctors do recommend weight loss to overweight patients who are type 2, but they may not always tell them how to do it.

Many people end up shopping for a diet plan to help them lose the extra weight. There are all kinds of diets out there. Some diets emphasize low-fat, low cholesterol foods. Others say that carbs are the enemy and a diet of mainly protein will help you shed extra pounds.

Diets such as the DASH diet help you lower your blood pressure as well as lose weight. The Food Pyramid guides you on healthy portions sizes and eating a variety of foods

If you are trying to lose some weight, do you follow a diet plan? If so, which plan do you use?

Where’s Dr. Bernstein in your options? His plan is specifically for diabetics to lower their BGLs as well as their weight by following a low carb lifestyle. My last A1c was 5.0 after implementing his plan.

It saddens me to see Drs are advertising that it is ok to eat sugar. I have been a diabetic for 31 years and it is horrible to eat sugar.
